Rowing is a Finn thing, it is part of the Finnish culture like a sauna by the lake. To row or to move over the waters is, however, often seen too ordinary to be recognized as part of our culture or to be respected more.
Finns have been moving with expertise and success over the waters for centuries. Good examples are over 100-seater church boats, which were used on the way to church services over open lakes, the Olympic rowers Sylvi Saimo and Pertti Karppinen and the artfully handmade savolais-boats from Sulkava. All these testify the Finnish culture and rowing!
All these matters are promoted and supported by the rowing club Joutele. We motivate people to practice body culture the Finnish way - and what would be more Finnish and decent for that than rowing - the aim for the best possible achievement, in the same boat, in the same rhythm.
