About Joutele

Joutele ry is a rowing club specialized in wooden boat rowing. The club owns four church boats, which its teams use when participating competitions and rowing events all around Finland. Members of Joutele participate also small boat and indoor rowing events.

During the summer teams practise three times a week, meeting point is in Varjakanranta in East Helsinki (see map). In the autumn rowers leave the sea and go to the forests to do nordic walking for several hours. In winter time Joutele has indoor rowing practices twice a week at Soutustadion (see map).

Participating in bees is essential and without the voluntary work of the members, it would not be possible for dozens of rowers to row with equipment in good condition through the summer. The biggest effort is Kulosaaren ympärisoudut (Rowing around Kulosaari island), a competition for church boats, which is arranged by Joutele and Helsingin Soutuklubi together.

Joutele offers opportunities for all - for them, who would like to devote themselves to wooden boat rowing on the top as well as for them, who would like to enjoy outdoor sports in sea Helsinki.

Come along and row with us!
